Juniors Competitive Program

Posted by Joel on March 27, 2018

Dear Kingston Ultimate Community:

A small group of Local 613 players have decided to start a junior competitive ultimate program this year and we are looking for a few community coaches (e.g. parents, high school coaches, local ultimate players) to get involved. Building off the success of the junior league run by Pete Galbraith over the past few years, we are excited to offer girls and boys age 14-18 an opportunity to play in a condensed, introductory season of junior competitive ultimate.

Here are the details:

Coaches
Girls Team: Asia Zolnierczyk, Cat Normandeau, Katie Fizzell,
Boys Team: Kyle Plumb, Mike Cabral, Miles Wilson

Practices
Tuesdays, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., May 22 - July 10, Caton Fields

Tournament
Ontario Junior Ultimate Championships
Saturday, July 7 - Sunday, July 8
Millenium Sports Park
Ottawa, ON

Long Term Goals
Grow a junior program that would consist of a competitive and development team for both the boys and girls divisions, clinics and practices running from May-August, and participating in 2-3 provincial or national-level tournaments each year.

What We’re Looking for in a Community Coach
Given the existing practice and tournament commitments of the coaches who are also also playing competitive ultimate, we are looking for at least two community coaches per gender. Ideally, these coaches will have an interest in staying on to help the program grow over the next few years.r. Your role as a community coach would be to attend practices and tournaments alongside the other coaches. If you are interested and have prior coaching and playing experience, great!! If you are relatively new to the sport but are interested in coaching, that’s great too! Community Coaches will have the opportunity to be a part of a developing program and expand their ultimate coaching abilities and knowledge.

Who to Contact
If interested, please email juniors@kingstonulti.ca
Sincerely,
Asia, Kyle, Cat, Mike, Katie and Miles
