Registration - NOW OPEN

Posted by Joel on April 12, 2019

Registration for all of our summer programs are now open. We're excited to offer two extra youth/junior leagues this year and below you'll find a brief description of each league being offered.

Our process has changed this year and to register you must first create a league account at https://league.kingstonulti.ca/

Once you have an account all of the leagues that you are eligible for (based on age and gender) will show up in your Dashboard and you can then click on the link to register. For anyone under the age of 18 you will need to have your parent/guardian create an account and they will then be able to create a profile for you and register you for the youth/junior leagues.

Registration for all summer programs will close Tuesday April 30, 2019 at 11:00pm.

Mini League May 20 – July 8, 2019 (8 weeks)

Ages 4-7
Mondays 6:30-7:30pm
Caton's Fields
Cost: $40 per player (includes insurance, jersey, disc, and snacks)

Mini League is an introduction to ultimate and general sport movement. Every practice is split between 30 minutes of ultimate and 30 minutes of another sport (rugby, soccer, baseball, and movement games). Children will learn how to throw, run, and catch, and embrace the spirit of the game. We are looking to cap this at 20 athletes so that our athletes can have lots of individual attention from our 4 fantastic coaches.

Youth League - May 21 – July 23, 2019 (10 weeks)

Ages 8-14
Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm
Caton's Fields
Cost: $100 per player (includes insurance, disc, t-shirt, and snacks)

Athletes aged 8-14 will learn to throw, handle, cut, bid, and play great defense with instruction from the Head Coach and players of the Queen's Men's and Women's Ultimate team (National Champions 2015, 2016, 2018) and members of Kingston's competitive touring team, Local 613 (3rd in Canada 2014 & 2016, 4th at PanAms 2015). With a big emphasis on embracing the spirit of the game, each session features 40 minutes of learning and 20 minutes of play, as well as a snack. Each athlete will receive a t-shirt and disc to take home. Please register by April 26th to ensure that your child’s shirt will be ready for the first session.

Parents/Guardians and kids are welcome to stay afterwards to watch the practices of Local 613. This is the league's fourth year and we are looking to expand on the success of last year. We are looking to work with children across all skill levels and abilities. Everyone is welcome.

For any and all leagues that you will want to register for you will first need to create a league account at https://league.kingstonulti.ca/ . If you played winter or spring you've already gone through this process.

Once you have an account you'll have a dashboard section where you can register for any leagues that are available to you (based on your profile demographics). Parents/guardians will also be able to add a profile for their children and register them for the youth/junior leagues.

If you create an account but don't get a confirmation email please check your junk/spam inbox and make sure it didn't end up there.

Local 613 - Tryouts 2019

Posted by Joel on March 22, 2019

Local 613 AND Local YGK are back for another awesome summer. Local 613 has represented Kingston provincially, nationally, and internationally since 2013, consistently being one of the top teams in Ontario. Our development team Local YGK has had two seasons under their belt and continues to offer a great opportunity for Kingstonians to better learn the game and get a taste for competition at some great tournaments.

FOLLOW THIS LINK TO THE TRYOUT FORM

For more details about our summer, just keep reading.

Tryouts - $20 covers all tryouts: April 23 – 6:30-8:30PM, April 28 – 1:00-3:00PM, April 30 – 6:30-8:30PM ( Team selection to occur afterwards). All tryouts will be held at Nixon Field on Queen's campus. Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 will be our regular practice time with May 7th being the first team practice. We will be attending TUF May 11,12 as a split roster meaning Local 613-YGK mixed together. TUF is a fun tournament and an opportunity for all our athletes to play together and make sure we have a cohesive program.

Local 613

Team Philosophy - Focused. Fun. Competitive. Top 4 in Ontario. Top 8 in Canada.
Our practice time is limited so we will maintain focus and respect that for 2 hours every Tuesday. Everyone is there to put in work and improve together. Frisbee is fun, let's make sure it stays that way by enjoying each other's company, and respecting each other as players and people. There’s enough competitiveness amongst our athletes that we know that when the chips are down everyone will perform their best. Everyone is playing Tuesdays and Wednesdays (Kingston mix league night) already, and we trust you'll get another session in per week playing, throwing, or otherwise getting your body ready to compete. Team Selection 10-12 athletes per gender Nationals is mandatory - the goal of performing at our best at Nationals means that only athletes who can attend Nationals will be offered a spot on 613.

Tournaments:
Mixed Eastern's - June 1-2 Devens, Massachussets (to be confirmed based on interest)

Comedy of Errors - June 29-30 Montreal

Regionals - July 6-7 Carleton Place

No Borders - July 20-21 Manotick

Nationals - Aug 22-25 Brampton

Local YGK

Team Philosophy - Focused. Fun. Learn how to play and compete at the next level. Practices run side by side with 613 and there will be lots of opportunities to learn from coaches, and other competitive athletes.

Team Selection - We are looking for athletes that can make a commitment to regular practices, a few tournaments, and a desire to push themselves.

Tournaments: Northern Flights June 15-16 North Bay (to be confirmed based on interest), Regionals July 6-7 Carleton Place, & NoBorders July 20-21 Carleton Place.
