GAME ON

Posted by Joel on July 6, 2011

Games will go on as scheduled for tonight as there hasn't been too much rain. There is a chance of thunderstorms with lightning - if this occurs, please stop your game. If it blows over, then continue, otherwise cancel the game.

A note about partially played games:
If you are able to play half (either by time played or by score) of the game, then the game will count as being played. If not, we will do our best to reschedule the game on a Monday or Friday night.

A note about time caps:
Regardless of how late you may start a game, it must finish on time so the next round can start. If neither team has reached a score of 15 before the time for the game expires then the Hard Cap is evoked. What this means is that at the end of your game's scheduled time whoever is winning wins the game. If you are in the midst of a point when the time slot is over, then the point is finished - whoever is winning at that point wins the game. If at the end of the time slot the game is tied, one more point is played and the team that scores wins the game.

---GLORY 2011!

Peterborough Ultimate, the League that brought you Harvest now offers you...Glory!

Introducing the inaugural one-day, co-ed, masters ultimate tournament slated for Saturday, August 27 in Peterborough, Ontario at Beavermead Fields along the shores of Little Lake. To play in Glory you must have at least matched the 33 years attained by other noted ultimate personalities like John Belushi, Sam Cooke, Blind Boy Fuller, Eva Perón, Dutch Schultz, Bon Scott, Moana Pozzi, and Jesus; to name a few. Yes, we will card your ass if you appear to lack the life experience.

By registering for glory you and 14 teammates will also gain full weekend admittance to the Canadian Wakeboard Open (http://www.canadianwakeboard.ca/) which will not only feature top-notch hot-shots also showing their skills but will include live musical talents such as Big Sugar, The Trews, Wide Mouth Mason and a number of other acts throughout the day. There'll be beach volleyball, roller derby (yeah, Peterborough has a team) and even a little motocross. I know, whoa, eh? So there will be hoards of people at Beavermead available to cheer you on and pump some much needed adrenalin into the old veins. Did we mention there's a beer tent (for which we understand the laws just became more liberal), food concessions and more in the area beside the field?

We're only allowing six teams; so gather a group of your finest fogies friends seeking Glory and submit your bid before it's too late. Gender ratio will be 4 men and 3 women. Bids are $450 for a team of up to 15 people (additional people will be charged a per head rate for the weekend pass). Bid submissions may be submitted by email money transfer to johndesbiens@sympatico.ca or by cheque to: Glory (c/o John Desbiens, Tournament Director), 429 Downie Street, Peterborough, Ontario, K9H 4J5. Cheques should be made out to Peterborough Ultimate League.

Accommodations are available at several nearby hotels and even Beavermead Campground itself for those that still haven't softened so much that camping is still a desire.
