Co-ed League Modifications

Posted by Joel on July 31, 2020

These modifications are designed to help reduce the potential spread of the coronavirus. We realize that this will alter the structure of the game and ask for your co-operation in implementing them. KU feels that this strikes a good balance between Return to Play and the safety of all players.

-Teams will consist of 12 players (6 men, 6 women). No exceptions allowed to the number of players and gender split. If a team can’t fulfill this KU reserves the right to manage their roster or void their registration.

-Games will all be 6 v 6 with a 3:3 gender split.

-No subs allowed. If a team is short on players then they can play shorthanded or default the game.

-Marking distance (ie. the person counting stalls) is increased to 2 meters.

-Stall counts are still out loud, but should be done at a quiet volume. They only need to be loud enough for the player with the disc to hear and you should refrain from counting them loudly.

-Any contact, even incidental, is a foul. The foul is always assumed to have been committed by the defensive player with the following exception:
i) The defensive player is standing still and the offensive player runs into them

-In lieu of a defensive player tapping in the disc to resume play, check if your opponent is ready to play then tap the ground to mark the resumption of play.

-Where possible we encourage players to mark the same opposing player.

-Game disc will be provided to team captains and will be sanitized before the game, at half time and after the game. Only official games disc may be used for the game.

Registratio Open for Minis and Youth

Posted by Joel on July 29, 2020

We are happy to announce that registration for our Minis (ages 4-7) and Youth (ages 8-14) programs are now active. Registration is open until Monday, Aug. 3 at 11pm, however each of these leagues will accept a maximum of 20 players, so we may close registration early if that capacity is reached. These leagues will run Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm Aug. 4-25 and the cost is $20/athlete.

To register please go to league.kingstonulti.ca. You have to have a league account before you can register. Parents/guardians can then set up a profile for their child(ren) and register them.

During the registration process you will see additional information surrounding our Return to Play policies concerning Covid-19. We apologize in advance, but there is a lot of information there and we ask that you take the time to read through it carefully. We want to ensure that everyone who registers is comfortable with, and will adhere to, the policies outlined.

For those of you interested in our Junior program, we are still waiting on confirmation of field space. I hope to have that soon and update you as soon as possible.

Expiry Date: Tuesday, August 4, 2020

Posted by Joel on July 27, 2020

We have now confirmed fields with the city and registration for our remaining programs will open Aug. 1 at 12:01am. We will do our best to get everything up and running so that we can start all games the first week of August.

Registration for Juniors will end at 11pm Monday, Aug. 3

Registration for Co-ed will end at 11pm Tuesday, Aug. 4

During the registration process you will see additional information surrounding our Return to Play policies concerning Covid-19. Juniors
Caton North (fields 24/25)
Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm Aug. 4 - Aug. 25

Co-ed League
Wednesdays 6-7:30pm Aug. 5 - Oct. 14

Given the way Phase 3 is structured, we plan to run 4 Co-ed leagues instead of one league with 4 tiers. Each league will be comprised of 4 teams of 12 players (6 men and 6 women) and there will be no crossover between leagues. This will keep each league under the mandated maximum size of 50. Games will be played 6 v 6 with an even gender split of 3:3.

All games will be from 6-7:30pm to start the season. This will bump to 5:30-7pm in mid September as the days get shorter.
-KU Co-ed League 1 – very competitive (most players have played on touring teams) Caton (field 22/23)

-KU Co-ed League 2 – competitive (some players have played on touring teams or are experienced players) Caton (field 24/25)

-KU Co-ed League 3 – recreational (a mix of experienced and new players, less focus on skill and strategy) McCullough (field 7/8)

-KU Co-ed League 4 – Casual (mostly newer players or players less concerned with competitive games. Less focus on skill and strategy.) McCullough (field 16/17)

To keep the potential exposure of Covid-19 to a minimum and abide by the government cap of 50, we are asking that any spectator(s) or child(ren) not enter the field area proper. If someone not registered to the league wants to watch the game we ask that they stay at least 10 meters from the field proper.

I realize that many players have kids and it isn't easy to find babysitters these days, so please feel free to bring your kids, but set up their play area 10 meters from the field.
